Aaliyah's debut album Age Ain't Nothin But A Number was released in 1994. It was Gold in the year she turned just 15 years old. R. Kelly was a significant influence in this project which put the singer into the spotlight. In 1996, she debuted her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the top-selling track If Your Girl only was aware. Aaliyah gained international recognition for her work as an R&B artist following their release of the sophomore album One in a Million. She was also on the screen in Romeo Must Die, a romance/action movie with Jet-Li. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her during an awards show and suggested her this part. The year 2002 was the time she was involved in the Anne Rice-produced movie about horror Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels was her first appearance in The Matrix Sequels. She had also appeared in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2007). In 2001, 1999, 2002, and 2003 she was nominated to win four Grammy awards. The actress is the first Indian American to be born in Connecticut. Mann is a contraction of her husband's final name Mankad. Aarti Magnumdar is her official name, but she also uses Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Though she initially had small TV and movie performances, her acting began to gain momentum around the turn of the century. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy as well as Grey's Anatomy. She has also been featured in commercials of major brands like international car manufacturer Volvo. The actress currently resides with her family in Los Angeles along with her husband, daughter and pursues her acting career.
